The PDCA has embarked on a consulation with the village and hall users to review the current and future use of the hall. This is a necessary first phase for seeking funding for any significant redevelopment.
While we have been able to maintain and improve the facilities in the hall, we know there remain some structural features that are in need of notable repair. Equally the hall is not best designed for the range of activities we would like to cater for. For example, there are few features that support access for disabled people. We do not have a range of rooms of different sizes.
We have been running a series of consultation events and looking for feedback from any members of the village and surrounding area, whether they use the hall or not. We have now completed and analysed the consultation feedback, You can see here for our initial findings.
These will aslo be presented at our open day on 25th of February. Our Architects (John R Harris & Partners Limited of Melrose) will also present a range of initial architectural and useage plans for the community to decide on. The final phase of the consultation will then involve a decision about the design to be adopted depending on cost, features etc.
In parallel to this work the committee are looking at various short term and longer term funding options.
